The OMEGA Speedmaster First OMEGA In Space pays homage to the OMEGA Speedmaster CK 2998 worn by astronaut Walter Schirra on NASA's Sigma 7 mission. This reinterpretation pays homage to that pioneering moment with authentic 2nd generation Speedmaster styling, paired with today’s most advanced movement technology.
The 39.7mm case in brushed and polished stainless steel is paired with a flat-link bracelet featuring OMEGA’s patented comfort release adjustment system. A black aluminium bezel with the iconic tachymeter scale proudly includes the historic “Dot Over Ninety”.
Beneath the sapphire crystal shaped to echo vintage hesalite, the grey-blue CVD-coated dial captures the faded charm seen on some original CK 2998 models from the 1960s. Alpha-style hands and applied indexes are filled with vintage-toned Super-LumiNova for period-correct glow, while the white varnished baton seconds hand complements the crisp dial printing. The tri-compax chronograph layout offers a 30-minute recorder, 12-hour counter, and small seconds sub dial for full function and historical accuracy.
Adding to its authenticity, a vintage OMEGA logo is featured on both the dial and crown. The screw-in case back is engraved with “THE FIRST OMEGA IN SPACE” and “OCTOBER 3, 1962”, alongside the classic Seahorse medallion.
